Filmmaker Alex Winter talks about his new film "Deep Web: The Untold Story of Bitcoin and The Silk Road," that premieres on May 31, 2015 on EPIX.
We caught up with him at this year's San Francisco International Film Festival to talk about the film, Ross Ulbricht, Silk Road, Dread Pirate Roberts and Fourth Amendment. We find out from Winter who is Ulbricht, why he founded The Silk Road, an underground marketplace that used TOR and Bitcoin. And what was different about the Silk Road.
On May 29, 2015 a verdict on Ulbricht's case was announced in a Manhattan court. Ulbricht got a lifetime in prison verdict. His lawyer said they will appeal the case.
